On Tradition Transforming and Development

传统作为一种存在,与其他事物一样时刻处于变迁过程,并在变迁中得到发展。影响传统变迁的因素主要有两方面:一是传统内部的自我更新和调节;二是外部环境的强制附加,但更多情况下是二者的综合作用。虽然传统不时地发生着变迁,但这种变迁实际上也是发展,应该说这是传统的一大特点。

As a kind of existence, tradition is transforming all the time just like other existences, and developing in the process. There are two primary factors which affect the variation of tradition, that is, the renewal and modulation in tradition itself and the affixations given forcibly by the exterior circumstances,which usually work synthetically. Although tradition is transforming every now and then, the variations are also developments actually, which can be considered as a notable characteristic of tradition.
