According to practical engineering experience, several common ways of selecting reactive power compensation capacity were introduced, such as by increasing power factor, lowering line loss, raising the terminal voltage, the need for economic reactive load and statistical estimation method, and relevant calculation was carried out. The selecting way introduced provides reference for confirming economic and resonable reactive power compensation capacity.
