孟二冬《登科记考补正》一书增补进士时存在对徐松《登科记考》的史实错误未予纠正、解读墓志史料不够严谨以及仅以方志为史料依据确认进士等问题。这些问题的存在不仅使《登科记考》中遗留的一些进士身份真伪问题没有能够解决,而且在一定程度上造成了新的错误。

When supplementing Jinshi candidates, Meng Er-dong＇s Supplement and Correction of Historical Records of Successful Imperial Examinations Candidates did not correct the historical mistakes existing in Xu Song＇s Historical Records of Successful Imperial Examinations Candidates. Besides, it was not quite exact in the interpretation of epitaphial facts and it confirmed Jinshi candidates only on the basis of local records. Such mistakes not only left unsolved the question on the truthfulness of Jinshi candidates in Historical Records of Successful Imperial Examinations Candidates, but caused some new mistakes to some extent.
