On Cai Yuanpei’s Thought of Modernity of Aesthetic Education

With his profound Chinese-western academic background and strong care for China＇s reality,Cai Yuanpei constructed the first Chinese thought system of modernity of aesthetic education. He advanced perceptual enlightenment, the foundation of moral personality,shaping of individual personality and expanding of national spirit ; he held that aesthetic education would replace religion. His thought system of modernity of aesthetic education not only embodies all the excellent cultural characters,academic ideas and practice spirit of modern Chinese theories of aesthetic education but also comprehensively reflects various logic inconsistency and thought symptoms in the development of Chinese modernity of aesthetic education. And his thought of aesthetic education has become the indispensable thought model of Chinese theory of modernity of aesthetic education.
