长街宴是不同村寨的哈尼族村民每年一度的集体欢腾圣宴。从规约性的象征符号系统来说,它是哈尼族绵恒浩荡古老历史、民族性格、传统世界观、梯田文明及传承手段的象征。作为大型的宗教节日圣宴,它带有宗教祭仪的性质,是个人与家庭日常社会生活角色转换和父权制社会等级秩序确立的象征,是圣俗二元世界对立即人与神鬼沟通交流的象征,是大型宗教节日活动不可或缺的重要一环,更是哈尼族更新与再造民族精神的重要手段。
