Characteristics and Manufacture of the SemiHigh Speed Steel—Forged Steel Compound Rolls for Cold Rolling

A new compound roll for cold rolling was introduced. This compound roll was produced by a new socalled rotating electroslag method. Namely, the pipe shaped semihigh speed steel electrode remelted by electroslag process in the gap between the crystallizer and the core of forged steel rotating synchronously. As a result, the compound roll was formed with an outer layer of the semihigh speed steel and the core of forged steel.
