外语教学中母语的作用和地位一直是语言教学界争论不休的话题。母语在外语教学中的作用究竟是利大于弊，还是弊大于利，至今仍无定论。但不管怎样，母语在外语教学中具有积极作用的一面已得到越来越多人的认可。如何发挥母语的优势，灵活运用母语于外语教学中开始倍受广大英语教师的关注。本文从正反不同角度，结合各外语教学理论对母语在外语教学中的作用问题，给予粗浅的探讨。

In recent years, more and more people have realized the positive role of mother tongue in foreign language teaching （FLT）. And how to make use of the mother tongue flexibly in FLT has become a hot topic concerned by many foreign language teachers. The article tries to provide some practical uses of mother tongue in FLT according to the author＇s teaching and learning experience.
