A Christian Fighter for Democracy

张雪岩是九三学社的创建人之一。从年轻时的投笔从戎到学习实业,再到出国留洋,他四处漂泊,但始终爱国情殷。1934年,他创办了《田家》半月报,以此为阵地在农村普及文化教育,在抗战时期又为民族解放鼓劲呐喊;在战后国共斗争的重大转折关头,他坚决反对内战,追求民主,并将《田家》办成了宣传民主的阵地,自己也从一个基督徒知识分子成长为一个民主斗士。

Zhang Xueyan is one of the founders of the Jiusan Society. He had been a patriot since he became a soldier when he was young. In 1934, he published a half-monthly called Tianjia（Farmer）, whose main job was to serve for the farmers. The journal did excellent publicity during the Anti-Japanese War. After that, he was staunchly opposed to the civil war and supported democracy. Finally, from a Christian intellectual he turned a fighter for the democracy in China.
