The American black quilt heritage should be defined as artistic heritage, political heritage and family history heritage. The narrative discourses of both the author and the mother in Everyday Use may misguide the reader. Dee is not mature politically, yet she is still qualified as an inheritor of black quilt heritage with its political and artistic components. Maggie can ordy be regarded as an inheritor of the family history heritage of black quilts, owing to her unenlightened nature.
