Role of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in human's neural system

摘要 ω-3多不饱和脂肪酸是神经系统的主要构成成分,作为膳食补充剂对婴幼儿大脑和视觉的发育以及成人视觉功能和大脑保健有着独特的作用。新近研究显示ω-3多不饱和脂肪酸在神经细胞中的含量与抑郁症和精神分裂症等精神疾病发病率呈负相关性,并可通过转化成前列腺素、白三烯以及其他大脑必需化学物质,或激活过氧化物酶体增殖剂-激活受体等机制来调节神经系统的功能,但其确切作用机理有待深入研究。总之,补充ω-3多不饱和脂肪酸可辅助治精神方面的疾病。 ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids are major components of the neural system. As nutritional supplementation, they play a unique role in infant brain development and adults vision function and brain protection. Rencent research found a negative correlation between polyunsaturated fatty acids in neural cell and rates of depression an other mental disease. They can regulate neural function by converting into prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and other chemicals the brain needs, or activating peroxisomal proliferatoractivated receptors (PPARs). The mechanisms remain to be researched. In brief, the supplement of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids can be a subsidiary element in treatment of mental disease.
