Wireless Mesh network （WMN） are the key technology of the next generation wireless network. Recently, they are paid more attention and develop rapidly. WMN have the potential to provide ubiquitous high-speed Internct at low costs. The new generation wireless Mesh networks are needed. The high performance and reliability are provided no matter what the number of hops in Mesh networks. The advantages and disadvantages of traditional WMN are introduced, the current research status of WMN is analyzed, and the technical and economical challenges that need to be addressed are highlighted in the next years.
