With construction of whole station network in TV stations, production flow is becoming full documenting and tape will be gradually withdrawn from the historical stage. In this situation, video server will become the only video resource except line signal, and its importance becomes more obvious. Combining reconstruction of the new generation's playout system in the Shanxi TV Station, the paper introduces some consideration about type selection of playout video server and network construction mode in the whole station network era. And we hope it will be a reference to project design of playout system reconstruction in other TV stations
