Adsorption characteristics of Baijiao anthracite coal to iodine and bromine have been systemically studied Adsorption of iodine on coal conforms to Freundlich experiential equation or Langmuir model The kinetics of adsorption of iodine on coal follows the unconventional first order model: q(t)=A[1exp(kt)]n Pore structure of coal adsorbed iodine in aqueous solution gets blurred The q to iodine on the demineralized coal is less than that on original coal, whereas it is larger to bromine The results obtained by desorption experiment, Xray diffraction and FTIR spectroscopy analysis show that the adsorption of iodine and bromine on coal is mainly physical process In addition, direct and alternating current conductivities of coal adsorbed iodine are about two order larger than those of the untreated coal
