The case of the availability of Jisan coal mine＇s Lower 63 # 04 longwall top coal caving face supports and its influence upon the roof control as an example, this paper elaborates on the very close and unseparable relations between the face support availability and the roof control. Only on the basis of guaranteeing the availability of face supports can the setting load of face supports be realized. The latter is the basis for an effective control of the roof strata.
