This article describes the scale buildup and abrasion problems identified in the flue gas turbine of the heavy oil FCC unit of the Refinery of SINOPEC Qilu Company during a scheduled overhaul.The article analyzes the causes of the scale buildup and abrasion and concludes that fine particles of catalyst are the root cause of the scale buildup and that high-concentration soot is the immediate cause of the abrasion. The authors propose some measures for preventing scale buildup and abrasion of flue gas turbines ,particularly specific to the problems detected during the overhaul ,based on their years of experience in operating the turbines.
