体育文化是具有运动属性的文化,军事体育文化则隶属于体育文化,是体育文化的一部分。军事体育文化的特点是源于战争又反过来为战争服务。中国古代的军事体育文化贯穿于奴隶社会和封建社会全过程,是中国古代体育文化的主线。中国的休闲娱乐体育文化、学校体育文化和养生体育文化实际上都是由军事体育文化派生出来的。之所以要对中国古代军事体育文化作产生与发展的系统论述,其目的就是强调军事体育文化在中国体育文化中的重要地位和作用。

Sports culture has the attribute of exercises. Military sports culture belongs to sports culture and it is part of sports culture. The charactoristics of military sports culture is that it originated from war and in return served war. The ancient Chinese military sports culture ran through the whole slave and feudal societies and it is the main line of the ancient Chinese sports culture. In fact, the sports culture of entertainment, school sports culture and the sports culture of keeping in good health are all derived from military sports culture. In this article, the final aim of discussing systematically the emergence and development of military sports culture is to emphesize its important position and effect in the field of the Chinese sports culture.
