Light metals are the important structure materials,and have wide application in many fields of national defense industries and civil industries.The key fundamental topics on the welding of light metals,which are urgent to be solved,were deeply discussed by the young and middle-aged scholars who are organized by Department of Engineering and Material Science,NSFC.The 4 subject frontiers about the key fundamental research on the welding of light metal in China were summarized by authors based on the summarization on the discussion achievements by Department of Engineering and Material Science,NSFC.
