摘要乔尔.塔尔(Joel A.Tarr)是美国城市环境史的开拓者和最杰出的研究者。他的研究主要包括交通与城市环境、"城市基础设施网络"及各类城市污染,擅长使用历史视角考察和"技术"与"决策"框架进行分析。他较早归纳和提出了城市环境史的定义、研究维度、研究模式以及学科价值取向,广泛而又深刻地影响了该领域的成型与发展。 Prof. Joel A. Tart is a leading scholar of urban environmental history which is a very important subfield of American environmental history. This paper consists of two parts. The first is to introduce his main studies from 1970s. The second is to analysis his achievements from the theoretical base of urban environmental history, such as definition, dimension, studying frame, function, etc.
