Adaptability of Metadiscourse in Academic Lectures

在顺应论的理论框架内探讨了元话语在学术讲座中所起的作用,分析了它是如何帮助讲座人实现与听众的有效沟通。元话语可以视作讲座人为了有效传递交际意图,在顺应听众的不同认知语言语境、心理动机、社交语境等因素的基础上作出的选择结果。同时,顺应是学术讲座中元话语选择的前提基础。

Within the framework of Verscheuren＇s Adaptation Theory, this paper probes into the role metadiscourse in academic lectures plays in helping the lecturer communicate with the audience. It is proposed that metadis- course could be regarded as the result of the choice made by the lecturer by adapting to the cognitive and psychological motivation of the audience, social context and linguistic context. In addition, adaptation serves as the basis for the appropriate choice of metadiscourse in academic lectures.
