The mandibular condyle, which influences directly the morphology and function of mandible, is one of the major growth and development sites of the face. The condylar cartilage which covers on the surface of the temporomandibular joint is the fundament for keeping remodeling when biomechanical force is applied on it. The condylar chondrocyte is constantly the focus in craniofacial development and functional orthopedic researches. This is a review of the recent research progress in adaptive remodeling of mandibular condyle to biomechanical force.
