The 2008 Suzhou Seminar on Architecture and Phenomenology is a first-time convention held in Chinese mainland on topic of architectural phenomenology. This paper makes an all-round introduction to seminar＇s origin, organization and main contents, and gives a detailed analysis of the viewpoints of the papers from convention in terms of the relation between phenomenology and architecture, rethinking about phenomena and architecture, discussion around Martin Heidegger＇s ＂building, Dwelling and Thought＂, as well as the consideration of phenomenology in architecture that includes experience, memory, space and place. It reviews the confrontation of idea and response between phenomenologists and architects, and makes discussion on the meaning of architectural phenomenology against the background of a series of international conventions on phenomenology and relevant publication activities.
