It is my great honor to enter 2009 together with you, a year during which we willhave numerous exciting standards to formulate and innovate.When you receive our first journal in 2009, you will note that we have redesigned and updated both the cover and contents. As a mark of our respect and desire to meet readers＇ needs, we aim to make constant and appropriate changes to our publications. CAS has been devoted to this practice since the very beginning of stan- dardization. In the first journal of 2009, we showcase some reflec- tive articles about the food incidents that occurred in China in 2008. We strongly acknowledge that as workers in standardization, we must not tolerate any nonfeasance in our responsibilities. We must dare to confront all the challenges arising from modern industrial and agricultural developments.
