On Confucius' Pursuit of "Tao" in his Thought of Music Education

孔子十分重视音乐教育,视古乐为一完整的文化生命,主张借音乐之教化而挺立道德人格的自我。他以一种强烈的历史使命感,担当起古文道统的传承与延续。然其乐教思想亦有形上之维度,从文献解读中,人们不难窥见其以乐证道、对精神家园的孜孜追求。

Confucius stressed music education and regarded the ancient music as a complete cultural life, He advocated the completion of a moral character by means of music education. With the Intense histoncal consciousness, and on his own initiative, Confucius undertook the historical mission to inherit and pass on King Wen＇s orthodoxy. However, there was the ontological latitude in his thought of music. Through the literature review, we later descendents may understand that Confucius has proved the ＂Tao＂ by means of musie and made a diligent pursuit of the spiritual home.
