ParOdy has been explored synchronically and diachronically in different literary periods and is especially preferred by the postmodernist writers. As one of its outstanding pioneers, Joseph Heller employs a series of splendid collages, and imitation of conventional narrative forms regarding historical stories and the profound philosophy in his six novels not only to elaborate its postmodemist deconstruction but also to lash out at American crisisridden society and depressed hopeless people.
