After the introduction of meltingprocess in the smelter and the analysis of control requirements, the design of melting automatic control system based on PROFINET and PROFIBUS mixed network is used. PLC is regarded as a PROFINET IO in PROFINET structure of the distributed field devices. A seamless integration between PROFINET and PROFIBUS is realized. The network structure and system configuration are described in detail.
