Study on the Custom of Giving Presents in Japan

送礼是日本重要的社会风俗习惯之一。对日本民族送礼的原因和目的、送礼的节日和礼品特点以及送礼的方式和禁忌等进行探讨,从而揭示出日本民族在送礼过程中所体现出的浓重的义理观、强烈的面子观和追求形式美的特点,并总结出中日两国送礼的差异。

Giving presents is one of the most important social customs in Japan, The article bellow gives a study on the Japanese national reasons and purposes of giving presents, occasions, ways and taboos as well as characteristics of giving presents so as to indicate the Japanese national characters of strong view of moral principles, intensive face-saving concept and pursuing beauty in form. Also, the article points out the difference of giving presents in China and Japan.
