Some design consideration for the control scheme of a reboiler is described. With the control scheme when steam is used as heating medium locating the control valve in the steam line is preferable. When a condensate pot is used, its pressure equalizing line should be connected to the top of the pot from the condensate outlet of the reboiler. Several sensible heating medium control schemes for reboiler are described. For the control scheme by a flow control valve in the heating medium pipeline and a differential pressure control valve in the bypass line, the pressure measurement on both sides of the differential pressure control valve should accurately reflects the change of pressure drop of the flow control valve, otherwise the control will be unsuccessful.
