汉英颜色词“黑”(Black)之国俗语义对比分析

A Comparative Study of the Cultural Connotations of the Color Word"Black" Both in Chinese and English

汉英颜色词及其构成的词语都具有丰富的国俗语义。这是汉英民族长期以来经过千百代人民生活实践而形成的。在心理上有崇尚有禁忌;在语义上既相似又相异;在修辞上有褒有贬。研究和发掘颜色词语中所承载的文化信息和蕴涵的国俗语义,在跨文化交际中有很大的实用价值。拟对汉语中的"黑"和英语中的"black"这两个对应词的国俗语义异同并存现象做一对比分析,以期对跨文化交际有所裨益。

The color word ＂black＂（黑色） in both Chinese and English has extended national and cultural connotations which have been developed and widely used by Chinese and English people. Psychologically black is considered as a colour of either advocacy or taboo. Syntactically, similarities and differences are evident and rhetorically, ＇ black＇ can be either commendatory or derogatory in meaning. Studying the national and cultural connotations has a great value in cross -cultural communication. This paper discusses the similarities and differences of the color word ＂black＂ both in Chinese and English by citing examples in the hope of bettering cross - cultural communication.
