A Study on Teaching Foreign Business English Vocabulary

外贸英语的专业词汇是普通英语词汇词义派生的产物,具有一词多义和多词一义的特性,并使用大量的术语和缩略语。词汇表、语义场、词块和语境是目前词汇教学中常用的呈现方式,在专业词汇教学中,可使用词汇表与词块两种方式共同呈现普通英语词汇派生出的专业词汇;可采用语境的方式呈现多义的专业词汇;可采用语义场的方式呈现同义的专业词汇;可在阐释定义的基础上采用词汇表的方式呈现术语和缩略语。

Foreign business English vocabulary derives from common English words. Foreign business English word may mean differently in different context and several foreign business English words may share the same meaning. Foreign business English vocabulary also has a number of terms and abbreviations. In teaching vocabulary there are four ways of presentation：wordlist, semantic field, chunk and context. As far as teaching foreign business English vocabulary is concerned,the derived words should be presented in wordlist and chunks; words which have more than two meanings should be presented in context;synonyms should be presented in semantic field; terms and abbreviations should be presented in wordlist after being well defined.
