A Brief Account of Reduplicated Nouns of AA-style in the Dialect of Yanhe

在与古代汉语、现代汉语,甚至是燕河流域方言(以下简称"礼县话")内部相关结构①对比的背景下,通过对礼县话AA式常用名词穷尽式分析,我们发现:(1)礼县话中,语素重叠是一种非常能产的构词方式。(2)虽然部分AA式名词可表物类,但大多数AA式名词主要表小表爱,且有浓郁的口语色彩。(3)一般情况下,单音节名语素重叠构成的广用指物名词和小称名词的含义与相应单音节名词的含义相同。正因为如此,AA式名词第二个音节的含义逐步虚化、脱落。与此相应,AA式名词的第二个音节开始轻声化。

On comparison with both classical Chinese and modern Chinese, even with related structures tunes in Yanhehua （ it will be named as ＂Lixianhua＂ in the following） , we make a thorough survey of the use of everyday reduplicated nouns of AA - style in Lixianhua. The research result shows neither suffix ＂ - er＂ nor retroflex r - ending is an active word - making style in Lixianhua. Though some reduplicated nouns of AA - style act as class names, most of them are used as diminutives in colloquial style. Usually, a reduplicated noun of AA - style which is formed with repeated permutation of a monosyllabic noun morpheme and which is often used for every occasion has the same meaning to the correlative monosyllabic noun, so the second syllable of the reduplicated noun gradually loses its original meaning. As a result, some second syllables of the reduplicated nouns of AA - style begin to be light tones.
