每一位发表小说的作家都想使自己的作品对读者具有权威性,都想在一定范围内对那些被作品所争取过来的读者群体产生权威,托尼·莫里森也不例外。她在代表作《最蓝的眼睛》中就为这种作者声音正式开了先河,她将选择起点最终定位在了语言规范层次上,她的叙述者没有直接抵制"方言"和"白种人英语",而是采用了既不是方言也不是白种人语言的一种地方土话,叙述者使用口语式、会话型的话语,使得每一个人成为个性群体中的角色。莫里森为她的叙述者选用这样的语域,意在采用并借助非洲裔美国黑人社群而获得权威。

Almost every writer wants to build up the authority towards these readers who are attracted by the works,Tony Morrison is no exception. She started the author-voice style in her masterpiece The Bluest Eye and orientated on a language level. The narrators didn＇t directly resist talk and white English,but adopted a local dialect, and used spoken and colloquial discourses to make every character outstanding among others. The reason why Morrison chose such language form lies in her attempting to build up the authority based on African- American black association.
