宗教与社会主义相适应、相和谐是一个漫长的过程。这种适应与和谐,是社会和宗教界双方共同的愿望和任务,它的实现是双方互动的过程。西道堂的探索颇有新意,它给我们提供了宗教与社会主义社会相适应、相和谐的新形式、新思路、新方法。如,主动适应市场经济,积极探索寺院经济的发展模式和机制;积极探索宗教公益事业,体现了宗教界的社会责任与时代关怀;重视民族团结,特别注意与其它教派的友好交往与沟通。和谐社会的形成固然离不开各宗教自身的努力,但也和整个社会对宗教的认知,尤其是政府对宗教的引导等密不可分;另外,对宗教界中爱国爱教、知书达理、有较高的宗教文化熏陶和较深的汉文化修养的高层人士的作用也不容忽视。

It is a long process to make religion adapt to and be harmonious with the society of socialism. But the pursuit of adaptability and harmony is the common wish, common task and mutual interaction of the religion and the society. The survey of the West Road Church, which is one branch of Islam, provides us with new model, new viewpoint and new method in the integration and harmonious relationship between religion and socialism. The concrete methods are as follows： actively adapt to the market economy, explore the development model and system of church economy; study the public welfare attentively and try to carry out the social task as well as the concern of the society; attach great importance to national unity, especially the friendly communication and exchange among other religious sects. The harmonious society cannot be built without the effort of religion itself, but the acknowledgement and understanding from the whole society and the guide from the government is important as well. In addition, the role of the senior religious people with rich knowledge, high intelligence can not be ignored as well.
