loneliness consciousness, as an unique and common psychological phenomenon, is an oft-occurring motif in the field of literature. In the light of feminist theory, this paper approaches two brave female images with awakening female subjectivity in the patriarchal world-Edna from The Awakening written by Ameriean female writer Kate Chopin in 1899, and Yu Jiaolong in Chinese writer NieYunlan' s martial arts fiction Yu Jiaolong in 1981. By interpreting the development of their loneliness, including the awakening, striving, and resurging, the paper shows the similarities in western and Chinese female expression and revelation of the loneliness under the influence and awareness of female subjectivity.
