油轮运输安全风险之大,管理标准之高已被国际航运界所公认。在现代油轮管理中,油轮船东及船舶必须通过自身不断地对安全管理进行评估,来降低船队及船舶在管理中所存在的安全风险,提高管理标准,从而保证船舶的安全。本文提出了油轮自身评估的主要内容和管理要点。

That the grave risk in oil tanker operation and the stringent standards of the management thereof is well recognized by the international marine shipping industry. The oil tanker owners, by continuously self - assessment on safety management, try to eliminate the risk being present in the fleet and the management thereof, to update the management standards and thus to ensure the safety of the ships. The author outlined the major aspects of the self - assessment of the safety management of the oil tankers and proposed the guidelines for their implementation.
