暗流“独”涌、风景“独”好——从孤独角度解读康拉德《吉姆爷》

An Interpretation of Conrad’s Lord Jim from the Perspective of Loneness

《吉姆爷》是康拉德最受推崇的小说之一,文中始终贯穿着一条主线或有一条"暗流"——"孤独"在涌动。康拉德运用这股"暗流",从三个侧面——三种孤独:主人公道义上的孤独、文中不同人物的孤独、环境的孤独揭示了《吉姆爷》主题,在使整部小说的含义更含蓄、更丰富的同时,还缩短了作者和读者的距离,增加了整部书阐释或解读的可能性。

The Lord Jim is one of the famous novels of Conrad, and there is a main line or an undercurrent-loneness which gushes from the beginning to the end. Conrad, by using of the undercurrent, reveals the novel＇s theme from three aspects or three types of loneness as follows： the hero＇s moral loneness, various characters＇ psychological loneness and the environmental loneness, reveals the theme of the Lord Jim and makes the whole novel more delicate and richer. Meanwhile, he shortens the distance between the author and the reader and adds the possibility of the novel＇s interpreting or reading and understanding.
