The RC-135S Cobra Ball reconnaissance aircraft uses long range, electro-optical sensors. The sensors can accurately locate a missile launch beyond 418-km range, mark the missile engine' s cutoff and then quickly calculate its trajectory and impact point. The RC-135S has been used in the strategic intelligence-gathering, and will play an important role in battlefield missions.
