The recent developments in largescale nonlinear programming are described. The general largescale nonlinear programming is first introduced, then largescale sparse nonlinear programming,largescale bounded constrained optimization and largescale quadratic programming are also introduced.The main difficulties in largescale context are discussed, and the current approaches are overviewed for overcoming these difficulties. The basic idea of the methods for solving many kinds of largescale problems is analysed, and theoretical and numerical results of these methods are given.In addition, some optimization software for largescale nonlinear programming and further research directions are discussed.
