The Primitive Origin of Maugusi Dance of the Tuchias

毛古斯舞是湘西土家族祭祀仪式中一种具有人物、对白和简单情节的民间舞蹈形式。本文通过对毛古斯舞表现内容、表演形式、艺术风格的分析，来追溯毛古斯舞的悠久历史，探讨在原始思维影响下毛古斯舞如何发生。

Maugusi is a form of simple structured folk dance having its own heroes and dialogue, it belongs to the Tuchias living in western region of Hunan province, and is performed during sacrificial rites. Through an analysis of the manifesting contents, the performanee style and the artistic flavor of Maugusi Dance, this article tries to look back at its rich history in order to explain the circumstances which led to the original formation of Maugusi Dance under the influence of primitive thinking.
