本文从认知关联理论的角度出发,简要探讨语境在翻译中的作用。关联理论是语用学的一个重要概念,它指出对话语的理解是一种认知活动。语境,作为语言交际发生的环境,在翻译过程中起着十分重要的作用。作为跨文化交际行为的译者,在翻译中的理解和表达中都依赖于对语境的正确理解。

This paper examines the function of context in translation from the perspective of Relevance Theory. Relevance-theory is a basic concept of pragmatics which refers to the comprehension of language as a cognitive process. Context is the situation in which communication takes place and plays an important role in translating. As the carrier of intercultural communication the translator often than not relies on context to arrive at correct comprehension and expression.
