This paper is a review of Xie Jin＇s entire oeuvre and focuses on his contribution to the inheritance and development of Chinese cinematic tradition. It deeply probes into the significance reflected in his creation, including national imagination, subject meaning from family to country, and Confucian moral ideal and spiritual implication. Furthermore, through the narrative form and mirror language system, Xie Jin＇s outstanding contribution to expanding and recreating the form of Chinese mainstream movie could be acknowledged and argued with the relation of inheritance between Xie Jin＇s entire oeuvre and Chinese mainstream film.
