The noise-suppressing abilities of the median filters and the average filters were derived and discussed.Analysis and experiments showed that under the assumption of a more general noise model,the median filtering is superior to the average filtering in suppressing noise when the noise pollution probability is relatively small,while the average filtering is superior to the median filtering when the noise pollution probability is relatively large.
