What is "Landscape Building"

"园林建筑"作为专业术语为中国所特有,但定义域不清晰,通常人们对此类建筑的理解有模式化的趋向,其内涵和存在的逻辑都有重新审视的必要。经分析研究并比照国外类似领域的理论表述,所谓"园林建筑"实质上应视为风景园林中最主要的人工元素;作为建筑,应属于与自然环境密切相关的专门类型。这样理解或将有助于厘清某些逻辑的困惑和摆脱某些习惯认识的误区,同时也为此类建筑的研究探索新的理论途径。

＂Landscape building＂ is a unique Chinese technical term, but it has not a clear definition domain. Usually people have a tendency to understand such buildings in a certain pattern, and it is necessary to re-examine the meaning and the logic existence of the term. Through analysis and research as well as comparison to the theoretical expressions in foreign similar fields, the author thinks that lhe so-called ＂landscape building＂ should in fact be regarded as the major artificial element in landscape architecture, while buildings should belong to specific types closely related the natural environment. This explore new theoretical way for the research of such buildings.
