The New Edition of Tales from the Five Dynasties, which is of high corpus value, plays a key role in modem Chinese. Plenty of appellation words which were used in the special time have been reserved in the book. The thesis analyses the value of the vocabulary of the book in Chinese dictionaries＇ editing and revising, in order to supplement and correct The Great Dictionary of Chinese Vocabulary.
