作为语言系统的一个重要组成部分,称谓语与性别之间的关系非常密切。中英称谓语中的姓名、夫妻称谓、俗语、词汇、称呼顺序等语言要素的使用都存在明显的性别歧视现象。语言性别歧视不仅在社会交际中广泛存在,而且也根深蒂固地存在于人们的传统观念和思维方式中。语言性别歧视现象并非在语言形成之时就已存在,而是由于历史的演进、社会的发展、文化的传承和男女性社会地位的变化等因素共同作用形成的。

Appellation, as an important part of language system, has a close relation with language and gender especially from appellation＇ s point of view, this thesis discusses gender. After a review of sex discrimination in the Chinese and English language. Some language elements such as names, spousal addressing, idioms, vocabularies, and addressing turn, etc. are found in obviously discriminative usage, which indicate that sex discrimination in language not only exist in our social communication but also deeply rooted in people＇ s perspective and ways of thinking. Furthermore, the reason of sexism in language will be analyzed briefly.
