宝钢是中国当前现代化程度最高，生产规模最大、品种规格最全、工艺技术最先进的钢铁精品生产基地和钢铁工业新工艺，新技术，新材料研发基地，并跻身于世界先进钢铁企业行列。2003年到2006年，宝钢年年跻身世界500强。在2006年12B份完成的标准普尔企业信用评级复审中，宝钢获得了A-的信用评级，也是宝钢1997年以来取得的最高评级。
Baosteel, the largest and most modernized premium steel production base in China with the most complete varieties and the most state-of-the-art process technologies as well as the R＆D base for new process, new technologies and new material of steel industry, has ascended to the rank of leading steelmakers in the world. In July 2006, US ＂Fortune＂ magazine published the annual ranking of Fortune Global 500, in which Baosteel ranked No. 296, 13 positions up from last year. During S＆P＇s review of corporate credit rating in December 2006, Baosteel got a credit rating of A-, which is also the highest rating achieved by Baosteel since 1997.
