Violet, a periodical which started publication in the year 1943, was famous for its popular literature in the enemy-occuPied time. By ignoring the disturbance of enemy-occupied authority and inheriting the Mandarin Duck and Butterfly School＇ s tradition, Chief Editor Zhou Shoujuan, with his profound national mood, took great efforts to edit with new ideas, causing the periodical to form characteristics of ＂popularity＂ as well as ＂morality＂, ＂interest＂ as well as ＂significance＂. In enemy-occupied context, Violet has won a pure prestige by its metaphorical national conscious narration.
