Abstract We have demonstrated that circular and ring waveguides can be written and stored in photovoltaic and self defocusing photorefractive medium (LiNbO 3∶Fe crystals). The interractions between the ring waveguides have been observed. The methods writing these types of waveguides have important potential applications.
