Influence of Traditional Idea of Public and Private Interest on Culture Construction of Present Chinese Citizen

传统公私观念以"崇公抑私"为主要内容,它长期影响历代中国人的政治思维和政治品格,以及中国的社会结构和制度建设。传统尊公尚公观念有利于调和市场经济中泛滥的极端个人主义与利己主义,有利于增强公民的责任意识和义务感;而抑私灭私观念则会阻碍公民主体意识的发扬,难以形成正确的权利观,并压抑人们政治参与愿望。对此,应完善市场经济体制,深化政治体制改革,培育公民社会,为人民提供政治实践的场所。

＂ Exalt public and disparate private interest＂ is the major content in traditional opinion of public and private interest. It has influenced politics thinking and personal character of Chinese people for generations, Chinese social structure and system construction. Traditional idea of respecting and praising public is beneficial in adjusting individualism and egoism which overflow in market economy, strengthening responsibility and duty sense of the citizen; while the idea of exalting and destroying private interest will stop developing citizen subjective sense, not form easily the correct view of interest, overwhelming the willing of political participation. So it＇s necessary to perfect market economy system, deepen political system reform, foster citizen society, and provide space for politics practice of people.
