徐渭习画时间虽晚至48岁后,但他对于绘画的兴趣爱好,及对绘画的接触和了解,同画家的交游却可追溯至青年时代。他早年结交的画家朋友对于他后来的花卉画创作趋向影响显然。这种影响不仅仅一般地体现在画面上,更体现在他的思想、性格、心理等诸多方面。正因此,他的画风才能迥异时人,借其超卓的天才,创造出气势磅礴、不可一世的泼墨大写意花卉,开辟了中国画的新时代。

Although he started to learn painting as late as 48 - year - old, Xu Wei had an early interest in painting and his friendship with painters can be traced back to his youth. His artist friends of early years had an obvious influence on him, which is not only reflected in his paintings, but also in his thoughts, personality and psychology. His painting style varies with other painters of his time. He creates freehand brushwork flowers of magnificent style by his superior talent, opening up a new era of traditional Chinese painting.
