Market Segmentation,FDI and Trade Surplus:An Analysis based on Inter-provincial Data

大量经验事实和研究表明,国内商品市场仍呈现出一定分割状态。本文利用省际数据,引进外商直接投资、利率等控制变量,着重考察了市场分割对进出口的影响,发现市场分割对出口有一定的压制作用,也阻碍了进口,但对进口的阻碍大于对出口的压制,说明市场分割的存在是我国贸易长期顺差的决定因素之一。因此,继续深化市场化改革、促进国内统一大市场的建设,有助于缩小贸易顺差。

The massive experience facts and researches indicated that the domestic commodity market still presented division condition.By using the inter-provincial data and introducing control variables such as foreign direct investment and interest rate,this article inspects the influence of the market segmentation on the import and export.We have discovered that the market segmentation not only suppressed the export,but also hindered the import.However,the suppression to the export is smaller than the hindrance to the imports.The existence of the market segmentation is one of the determinant factors of the long-term trade surplus.Therefore,it is helpful for reducing the trade surplus by deepening the marketization reform continually and promoting the unification of domestic major market.
